For My Mother What started as a grungy concept evolved into something more editorial, regal, and deeply introspective. Every piece I’m wearing belonged to my mother, including the sari itself from the early 2000s (pictured). Wearing her things, carrying her history, and building a visual story around that felt like an act of love. In many parts of Indian culture, widows are expected to leave color behind. This shoot became a quiet act of defiance against that idea. A reminder that color, identity, and self-expression can still exist alongside grief. Even if she doesn’t feel ready to wear her color again, her daughter will wear it for her. So grateful to have been able to creative direct this alongside John and Shub.
